There’s something about coffee that makes many of us want to reach out for a cup every morning. The fresh aroma and taste refreshes our senses and get us ready to face the day ahead. Walk pass a coffee shop, the aroma of coffee hardly failed to lure people in for a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
As one of the world’s most popular beverages, coffee is well known for its positive effect on mental performance. Besides being enjoyed for its taste and aroma, coffee has been demonstrated to help reduce tiredness and improve a person’s alertness and concentration. The key ingredient responsible for enhancing an individual’s mental performance is caffeine.
Types of coffee beans
Coffee is prepared from roasted seeds known as coffee beans of the coffee plant. They are seeds of coffee cherries of the coffee plant that grow on in over 70 countries. There are basically 2 types of coffee beans, Arabica beans which account for 70% of world’s production and Robusta beans makes up to 30%. Arabica beans are more highly regarded than Robusta beans which tend to be bitter and it contains more caffeine.
The different types of coffee you see in the supermarket basically comes from Arabica or Robusta coffee beans. The difference is the brands and the regions these beans were grown. Well known types of Arabica coffee are Colombian, Costa Rican Guatemala, Hawaiian Kona, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Ethiopian Harrar, Tanzania Peaberry, Sumatra Mandheling, Java, and Kenya AA. The instant coffees you get are made from Robusta coffee beans and they are also usually used in blended coffee.

I love Tanzanian Peaberry, but there's also the Kona Peaberry coffee, which doesn't have as much of a reputation but is also very tasty. I would recommend it to anyone looking for gourmet coffee.
